The Country Garden - 2010

We have started our country garden, a kind
and hearty "thanks" goes out to two of our
neighbors that helped get us started. One
neighbor gave us some starter plants/herbs
and the other lent us their rotor tiller.

I put all the labels on the rest of the photos.

Hopefully, I'll do a spell check on the labels

before I post them. I just noticed that the

herb on the lower, far right is "Thume" vice

"Thyme". I could take the time and effort

to go back into adobe photoshop and correct it

or I can just pretend that I went to a far off

land, deep in country and discovered

a new kind of herb, affectionately named

after my elephant that I painstakingly rode

into the depths of the forest.

As you can see, no change. I have always

wanted to be adventurist. A lot easier

and safer when you do it from the comfort

of home.

Signs of Spring!

Signs of Spring are ever present these days, the
Farmers Markets are in full bloom. Here's one
on one of the local college campuses.



Although there was plenty of yummy things to
buy here 's what we ended up purchasing. We
have not opened yet, but Chris had a sample and said
it was delicious. This will make a nice snack, maybe
on one of our walks thru the "Cove".



Another sign of Spring, our flowers have
started to bloom. Here we have some large
Irises that are growing on the side of our
stone steps leading up to the house. Our
neighbor just gave us several trays that were
full of herbs, now we just have to get them in
the ground. Will show you those later.


Fresh strawberries anyone! These came out
of our strawberry patch. We had some
neighbors over today to test them out. Add
a scoop of Ben & Jerry's Vanilla ice cream,
and BAM, life on the farm is good.


Did someone mention strawberries? Hey,
wait you forgot something! .....
Moi' - (that's 'me' in french by the way!)

Our land 2009

Well, we had our land bush hogged again. Well,
most of the land. As you can see the top portion
is still overgrown, word we get that is that the
top portion is too steep for the tractor and it
would take a "cowboy" of a farmer to dare to
bush hog the top. Anyway, the bottom portion
looks great. And we finally got to see the final
product. In the past we would pay to have it done
and not get back to the land until it was back up
to knee level or higher.



And the proud owner of some blooming
sunflowers. They are just starting to get a flower
on them. Can't wait to see them in their full
glory.


Our pea pods are doing well....


And they were delicious by the way. Felt
really good to know that we had grown them.


Well, if we don't build on our land, here's the
other alternative....
