To the Veterans

I was taking a stroll in Asheville this weekend
and ran across this down in Pack Square. What
a nice surprise, I knew they were renovating
the area, but as "free spirited" as Asheville
can be, this is one of the last things I would
have expected.

What I didn't know and found at the following
website: http://www.packsquarepark.org/

The square during time of War. Asheville’s citizens
have always gathered proudly on the square to see
their troops off to war and to welcome them home.
These gatherings were often solemn and sometimes
colorful, including victory parades and the burning
in effigy of “Kaiser Bill” on Armistice Day,
November 11, 1918.

And of course, had to to take a photo of
the best service's official seal.
